Clearwave Joins MEDITECH Alliance to Expand AI Patient Check-In
Clearwave has joined the MEDITECH Alliance as an Accelerator Partner, formalizing its integration with MEDITECH Expanse. The partnership gives MEDITECH hospitals a way to deploy Clearwave’s AI-powered patient engagement tools, with data written back into Expanse.

Integration covers registration, payments and calls
Clearwave said its platform supports kiosks, pre-registration, eligibility verification, payments and phone handling for hospitals and health systems using MEDITECH Expanse. The company said the partnership is intended to help organizations capture more revenue before care, reduce front desk workloads and simplify patient experiences.
The MEDITECH Alliance is the company’s partner program for organizations with proven, successful and interoperable solutions and services. As an Accelerator Partner, Clearwave will promote an agentic workforce that automates tasks across the patient journey, including phone calls, health insurance checks, patient check-in and collections.
Holyoke Medical Center reports results from the integration
Clearwave highlighted Holyoke Medical Center, an independent community hospital serving 17,000 patients a month, as an example of the integration in use. The hospital moved patient check-in, eligibility and communications onto Clearwave, with patient-entered data flowing directly into MEDITECH Expanse.
According to Clearwave, Holyoke now sees 94% patient adoption of self-registration, average check-in times of about two minutes and a 56% co-pay collection rate, compared with next to zero previously. Chris Giroux, director of IT application services at Holyoke Medical Center, said, “A big value-driver is the data collection. It's a strength Clearwave has that's different than what other vendors can do with MEDITECH.”
Giroux also said the resulting data is “better, more accurate data,” and that it flows where the organization needs it while helping it get closer to being paperless. These figures and statements are claims from Clearwave’s announcement.
Eight AI agents target manual administrative work
Clearwave described its platform as a single AI-powered system intended to replace multiple patient engagement vendors. Its agents write data back to MEDITECH Expanse, which the company said can reduce manual data entry and reconciliation.
- Check-In Agent: supports kiosks, tablets and mobile check-in, including demographic confirmation, ID and insurance card scanning, consents and payments.
- Pre-Registration Agent: collects demographics, insurance information, consents and payment before visits.
- Eligibility Agent: provides real-time eligibility and benefits verification across 900+ payers.
- Payments Agent: captures co-pays, past-due balances and card-on-file payments before care.
- Clinical Intake Agent: prepares custom clinical questionnaires for providers.
- Voice Agent: answers routine inquiries and offers warm transfers to human agents.
- Outreach Agent: automates reminders, recalls and other messages.
