  • Artificial intelligence features in approximately 38 percent of the modelled technology development priorities.

Market could more than double

According to Industry Research Biz, the global consumer electronics market could be worth $1,100.87 billion in 2026 and rise to $2,825.55 billion by 2035. This represents a compound annual growth rate of 11.04 percent over the period.

Artificial intelligence, advanced semiconductor technologies and digital connectivity will all contribute to the market’s transformation. The research says the growing use of smartphones, personal computers, smart TVs and connected audio devices is prompting manufacturers to develop products that are intelligent, energy-efficient and customisable.

Digital entertainment, solutions for hybrid work and ecosystems of interconnected devices could also support market expansion.

Smartphones and AI take centre stage

Telecommunications equipment accounts for approximately 43 percent of demand across product categories. Industry Research Biz attributes this to the widespread use of smartphones and growing dependence on mobile digital services. Devices are used for communication, entertainment, digital payments, online shopping, navigation and work.

Computers account for 25 percent, televisions for 16 percent, audio and video equipment for 11 percent, and other electronic products for 5 percent. Personal use represents approximately 78 percent of demand, while commercial applications account for 22 percent.

According to the report, approximately 38 percent of the modelled technology development priorities are linked to smart computing, personalised features and improved interaction between devices. Manufacturers are integrating AI-powered processors, smart photography features, voice assistants and automatic performance optimisation into their products.

Asia and major technology manufacturers lead

The Asia-Pacific region accounts for approximately 41 percent of the market. Its position is supported by extensive manufacturing infrastructure, semiconductor supply chains and the spread of digital technologies. China, India, Japan and South Korea play important roles in both demand and technology development.

North America accounts for approximately 28 percent and Europe for 22 percent. The Middle East and Africa account for 6 percent, while the rest of the world represents 3 percent of the market.

Major companies examined in the research include Samsung Electronics, Apple, Hewlett Packard, Sony, LG Electronics, Philips, Toshiba and Hitachi. According to the report’s modelled competitive analysis, Samsung Electronics has a share of approximately 17 percent in the defined competitive landscape, while Apple has 15 percent.

Several major product announcements in 2026 drew attention to smart and connected devices. Samsung Electronics showcased related AI technologies at CES 2026, then introduced the Galaxy S26 and Galaxy Buds4 products in February. Hewlett Packard expanded the OmniBook and OmniStudio product lines, while Apple expanded its computer range in March with the new MacBook Neo and updated MacBook models.

Price and sustainability could also pose challenges

Challenges facing the market include device affordability, semiconductor availability, cybersecurity, product replacement cycles and environmental sustainability. The research modelling suggests that approximately 26 percent of consumer purchasing barriers are related to affordability and the total cost of device ownership.

According to the report, approximately 42 percent of investment priorities are focused on smart computing, processing efficiency and improved collaboration between devices. Companies are also exploring sustainable materials, more repairable products, longer lifespans and more responsible electronics waste management.

Based on Industry Research Biz’s forecast, personalised user experiences, improved battery efficiency, secure connectivity, advanced entertainment features and sustainable product development could be the main directions through 2035. The Asia-Pacific region is expected to remain an important manufacturing hub, while North America and Europe could support demand for premium, technologically advanced products.
