Vercel adds Tencent Hy4 to AI Gateway with 50% discount
Vercel has made Tencent’s Hy4 model available through AI Gateway, offering 50% off through December 31, 2026. The model supports vision, reasoning, tool calling, structured outputs and a 1M-token context window.

Hy4 brings vision and long-context capabilities
Hy4 is the first model in Tencent’s Hy family with vision, according to Vercel. It can identify fine detail in images and read complex charts, adding image input to its other supported capabilities.
The model also supports reasoning, tool calling and structured outputs. Its 1M-token context window is designed for work across a codebase or many documents, giving developers a way to provide large amounts of context in a single model interaction.
Hy4 supports computer use in both command-line and graphical interfaces. Vercel also says it follows instructions more closely than Hy4 Preview and performs better on long-context work, long-running tasks and deep research.
How developers can access the model
Developers can call the model through AI Gateway using the model name tencent/hy4. Vercel’s example uses the AI SDK and the streamText function to request an outline of a database migration and stream the result to standard output.
Hy4 is also available for use in Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and other agents. To configure it, developers need to install the latest Vercel CLI and run npx vercel ai-gateway setup, then select tencent/hy4 in the agent. Vercel says the model is available at 50% off through December 31, 2026. The announcement does not provide a separate base price.
What AI Gateway adds around model access
AI Gateway provides a unified API for calling models, tracking usage and cost, and configuring retries, failover and performance optimizations for higher-than-provider uptime, according to Vercel. It also includes custom reporting, Zero Data Retention support, budgets for API keys and routing rules.
Vercel says AI Gateway reflects provider pricing with no markup and does not charge a platform fee on inference, including requests made through Bring Your Own Key, or BYOK. For developers, the Hy4 integration combines the model’s vision and long-context features with a common access layer for usage controls and operational settings.
The company also provides a list of all language models available on AI Gateway, allowing users to compare Hy4 with other models offered through the service.
