Kyndryl has announced an integrated agentic modernization solution with Amazon Web Services that combines its Kyndryl Agentic Modernization services-as-software with AWS Transform. According to the company, the aim is to help customers modernize applications faster, reduce transformation risk and build AI-ready technology foundations.

Key points
  • Kyndryl announced an integrated agentic modernization solution with AWS, combining Kyndryl Agentic Modernization services-as-software with AWS Transform.
  • Kyndryl is a launch partner for AWS Transform.
  • Kyndryl's first global modernization report found nearly 50% of respondents are behind schedule on modernization goals.
  • Among early adopters of agentic AI in production, 67% said they are ahead of or on track, versus 51% of other organizations.
  • Services-as-software is built on the Kyndryl Agentic Framework and scaled through Kyndryl Bridge.

What the solution combines

The offering brings together Kyndryl's services-as-software capability, AI-enabled workflows and engineering expertise with AWS Transform. Kyndryl says the combination helps organizations assess, plan and execute modernization initiatives at scale.

The company claims the approach lets customers modernize applications, infrastructure and core systems faster, with greater consistency and lower transformation risk. Kyndryl is a provider of mission-critical enterprise technology services and is listed on the NYSE under the ticker KD.

Through the solution, Kyndryl says joint customers can:

  • Accelerate modernization projects by establishing a continuous approach to modernizing applications, infrastructure and core systems
  • Build resilient and AI-ready architectures
  • Reduce technical debt while improving operational efficiency

Services-as-software explained

Kyndryl describes services-as-software as an emerging model for delivering services through software-driven automation, intelligence and scalable digital workflows. It is built using the Kyndryl Agentic Framework and scaled through Kyndryl Bridge.

According to the company, the model enables businesses to run complex modernization programs in "radically compressed timelines and at significantly lower cost" by scaling pre-built agentic workflows, which makes specialized skills less of a constraint. Customers also get access to Kyndryl's expertise in cloud, security, compliance, FinOps and mission-critical technology operations, with the stated goal of maintaining governance, resilience and business continuity.

Kyndryl is a launch partner for AWS Transform. The company says it has worked with AWS to help customers move beyond project-based modernization toward a scalable, repeatable approach to continuously evolving their technology environments.

Survey data behind the pitch

Kyndryl points to its first global modernization report to frame the need. According to that report, nearly 50% of respondents said they are behind schedule on their modernization goals.

The report also found that early adopters that have deployed agentic AI in production for modernization reported stronger outcomes. Of those organizations, 67% said they are ahead of or on track with their modernization goals, compared with 51% of other organizations.

Shawn D'Souza, Global Modernization Leader at Kyndryl, said: "Many organizations are still treating modernization as a destination when it should be a continuous business capability." He added that organizations able to modernize continuously "will be better positioned to adopt AI, adapt to change and create long-term value."

What it means for enterprise customers

The announcement reflects a push to treat modernization as an ongoing process rather than a one-off project. For enterprises running legacy applications and core systems, Kyndryl is positioning agentic workflows on AWS as a way to ease skills shortages and shorten timelines.

The performance claims, including faster delivery and lower cost, come from Kyndryl itself, and the press release does not provide pricing, availability details or customer results for the new solution. Organizations considering it would need to assess those points directly with Kyndryl and AWS.
