For the short term, Babu will continue as President of Asia Pacific while working with Motorola’s leadership team to begin the transition. Rossi will remain acting Motorola Global President through the end of the calendar year.

Lenovo points to Asia Pacific growth under Babu
Lenovo said Asia Pacific has become a more balanced and diversified business and a key growth engine during Babu’s more than five years leading the region. The company said the region maintained its number one PC position across its portfolio.
Lenovo also highlighted growth in its mobile business. According to the company, Motorola reached nearly 9% market share in India and became the number two smartphone original equipment manufacturer in Japan.
Lenovo said its infrastructure business achieved profitable growth and nearly double-digit market share in Asia Pacific. Its Solutions & Services business also increased its advanced services mix to more than 50%, while continuing to strengthen its industry position.
Motorola strategy will focus on premium devices and AI
Lenovo said Babu will build on Motorola’s brand legacy of innovation, accelerate premium growth, expand the company’s ecosystem of intelligent devices and strengthen market share in key markets including the US, India and Japan.
The company described Motorola as a critical part of its personal AI vision. Rossi said Babu’s experience in sales, operations, partner and customer relationships, and business management would help continue Motorola’s global progress.
“As we move forward, our focus remains clear: continue to elevate Motorola’s premium portfolio, create meaningful consumers experiences across devices, and bring technology to life in ways that are both intelligent and deeply human,” Rossi said in Lenovo’s announcement.
The appointment puts Motorola’s next phase under a leader with experience across Lenovo’s regional, operational and services businesses. Lenovo’s stated priorities suggest that the company will connect Motorola more closely with its broader intelligent device ecosystem while pursuing growth in premium products and selected markets.
