Product data could be brought together on one platform
Centric Software announced on November 3 that The Magnum Ice Cream Company, or TMICC, had selected Centric PLM. The company operates in more than 80 countries and its portfolio includes five major global ice cream brands: Magnum, Ben & Jerry's, Cornetto, Wall's, also known as Heartbrand, and Talenti.
TMICC launched a process to select a new product lifecycle management, or PLM, system. According to the announcement, it chose Centric PLM because of its modern, scalable platform, capabilities tailored to the food and beverage industry, and coverage of the entire product lifecycle.
The system is intended to manage product development information on a single platform and support collaboration between different functions and markets. Real-time data and integrated tools could provide greater visibility throughout the products' entire lifecycle.
From research and development to compliance
According to the plans outlined by TMICC in its announcement, Centric PLM will connect research and development, packaging, quality assurance, regulatory affairs and other functions. The company wants to create a future-ready R&D and PLM architecture that aligns its global operating processes and integrations.
TMICC said this could reduce implementation risk, accelerate innovation and shorten the time it takes products to reach the market. The solution would also support the regulatory compliance required across the company's global markets.
“Connecting research and development, packaging, quality assurance, regulatory affairs and other functions will be an important step forward for The Magnum Ice Cream Company,” said Zbigniew Lewicki, TMICC's head of research and development, innovation and technology. He added that Centric PLM could provide greater visibility into the product lifecycle and create stronger alignment from early development through commercial launch.
Centric Software's food industry toolkit
Centric Software describes its offering as AI-powered, integrated enterprise solutions spanning the process from product concept to commercial launch. Its platform is designed for food and beverage manufacturers, food retailers, brands and multi-category retailers.
According to the announcement, Centric PLM supports concept development, recipe development, packaging, quality management, supplier collaboration, nutritional labelling, manufacturing and product assortment management. Centric Software claims that the solution can deliver productivity gains of up to 50 percent and reduce time to market by 60 percent, figures reported by the company.
Fabrice Canonge, CEO of Centric Software, said the collaboration shows that Centric PLM can provide global food and beverage companies with a flexible, scalable digital foundation for accelerating innovation, strengthening adaptability and ensuring compliance.
What could the deal mean for TMICC's operations?
Based on the announcement, Centric PLM will primarily be used at TMICC to align global product development processes. Unified data management and real-time information could support collaboration between teams working in different countries, while allowing the company to manage product development, packaging, quality and regulatory information in one place.
The announcement did not include a specific implementation date, cost or detailed timetable. Based on the stated goals, the system would strengthen TMICC's digital foundations and, according to the company, could help it develop new products more quickly and in a more coordinated way across operations spanning more than 80 countries.
