Meta Brings Real-Time Voice Conversations to Muse

Meta is rolling out real-time voice conversations with Muse, its AI assistant, across the Muse app on mobile, web and Mac. Users can speak with their Muse, interrupt responses and choose between voice-only conversations, an accompanying avatar or a full-screen view.
- Real-time voice conversations are rolling out in the Muse app.
- The feature is available across mobile, web and Mac, starting in the US.
- Users can choose voice-only, avatar-assisted or full-screen conversations.
- Muse avatars use expressions and gestures while responding.
- Voice conversations are coming soon to AI Glasses and Muse Charm.
Voice conversations arrive in the Muse app
The rollout follows Meta’s preview of real-time conversations at Connect 2026. In the Muse app, users can tap the phone icon in the top-right corner to begin talking with their Muse.
Meta says voice can make it easier to develop an idea without first working out an exact prompt. Users might start with a rough plan for a trip, describing a city they want to visit, the kind of place they would like to wake up in or a meal they would build the trip around. Muse can pick up the thread as the conversation develops.
The company also presents voice as a way to rehearse situations that benefit from an immediate response. Examples in Meta’s announcement include preparing for a job interview, practising a presentation and talking through a pitch. According to Meta, hearing a response and answering in the moment can make these exercises feel more like the real situation.
Expressive avatars respond while users speak
Muse’s avatar uses subtle expressions and gestures that match the tone of the conversation while it speaks. It also reacts as the user talks, which Meta says helps show that it is following along.
Users can decide how visible the avatar is during a conversation. The available formats are voice only, the avatar alongside the conversation or a full-screen experience designed for talking face to face.
Meta is also adding a choice of voice styles. The company says users can select from hundreds of voices, including options with the energy of a New Yorker or the flair of a pirate, and change the selection whenever they want.
US rollout begins, with more devices planned
Meta says its Muse Realtime Avatar and Muse Realtime Voice technology support fluid conversations in real time. Users can hear responses right away and interrupt when needed, while Muse is designed to keep up as the conversation changes direction.
Voice and expressive avatars are rolling out now in the Muse app in the US to start. Meta says voice conversations with Muse are coming soon to AI Glasses and Muse Charm, extending the feature beyond the current mobile, web and Mac app rollout.
For users, the update shifts Muse from a typed interaction toward a more conversational format that can be used while walking, making dinner or preparing for a presentation. The source does not specify a broader rollout timetable for the app or a release date for AI Glasses and Muse Charm.
