Reap, Meitu’s EveLab Insight and Pivota plan agentic beauty shopping

Reap, Meitu’s EveLab Insight and Pivota have signed a memorandum of understanding to explore an AI-assisted beauty shopping journey that connects personalized recommendations with checkout and payment. The proposed experience would let shoppers move from a MakeupPlus skin and beauty analysis to product selection and a user-approved purchase.
- Reap, EveLab Insight and Pivota signed an MOU for exploratory collaboration.
- MakeupPlus could provide skin and beauty analysis and personalized recommendations.
- Pivota would assess products, merchants and purchase channels.
- Reap would support checkout and order confirmation through integrations.
- Shoppers would approve purchases within user-defined controls.
From beauty analysis to checkout
Under the proposed collaboration, a shopper could receive a skin and beauty analysis through MakeupPlus. With the shopper’s consent and based on their preferences, the system could then provide relevant product recommendations.
Pivota would assess suitable products, merchants and purchase channels, considering factors including price and availability. Reap would handle checkout and order confirmation through supported integrations. The companies said the shopper would remain in control, including reviewing payment details and approving a transaction through a secure passkey where required.
How the companies describe the roles
Reap said its agentic payments service is designed to support agent-initiated card payments under user-approved mandates. The service includes payment credentials, spending controls and transaction records, according to the company.
“AI is getting very good at helping people find what they want. Paying for it is still where the experience breaks down,” Daren Guo, Reap’s co-founder, said in the announcement. He said Reap’s agentic payments are intended to make the final step simple and safe, within parameters approved by the consumer.
EveLab Insight provides AI skin analysis, high-resolution imaging and beauty technology solutions for spas and global skincare brands. It develops and publishes MakeupPlus, an AI-powered portrait makeup camera and photo-touchup app for iOS and Android. The app includes virtual makeup try-ons using real-time AR, along with skin and facial-feature retouching tools.
Pivota describes itself as a commerce decision and execution layer for AI agents. Its platform supports product and merchant selection, acceptance intelligence, checkout and payment routing, and order execution through integrated partners. The company said it does not hold or transfer customer funds or provide financing.
What the MOU could mean for shoppers
The arrangement is exploratory rather than a launch announcement. The companies said the collaboration aims to connect EveLab Insight’s personalized recommendations with Pivota’s product and merchant capabilities, then carry a shopper’s choice through Reap’s payment infrastructure with approval.
If deployed, the experience could help consumers discover products they might otherwise miss and give the partners a route from AI-led recommendation to checkout. The proposed controls are designed to keep the shopper involved in the purchase, with consent, payment review and approval forming part of the process.
Zha Xi, CEO of EveLab Insight, said the companies were exploring practical use cases for making beauty discovery more personal and useful. Peng Xu, Pivota’s founder and CEO, said the goal was to make personalized beauty shopping more seamless while leaving the customer in control.
