- Coursera and Udemy now offer a certified integration with Workday.
- Content covers AI, technical, business and leadership skills.
- Learning can connect to Workday Skills Cloud and Workday Career Hub where supported.
- Workday Learning, powered by Sana, brings external and company-specific learning together.
- The integration is designed to measure skills and proficiency, not only course completions.
Learning content moves into Workday workflows
Announced by Coursera General Manager, Enterprise Anthony Salcito on November 4, 2026, the integration brings learning from universities, expert practitioners and industry leaders into the Workday experience. Providers named by Coursera include Vanderbilt University, the University of Michigan, Yale University, Anthropic and Google.
Workday customers can access Coursera and Udemy learning alongside company-specific training through newly launched Workday Learning, powered by Sana. The content includes hands-on practice, role play, assessments and recognized credentials, in addition to conventional learning materials.
Coursera says the integration is designed to connect learning, skills development and talent management in one experience. Workday provides workforce data, skills intelligence and talent infrastructure, while Coursera and Udemy supply learning content and ways to demonstrate progress and proficiency.
From course completion to verified skills
The integration links Coursera and Udemy content to skills in Workday Skills Cloud. This allows employees and managers to find learning associated with specific roles and development priorities within their existing workflows.
Where supported, skills developed through learning can flow back into employee profiles in Workday Skills Cloud and Workday Career Hub. According to Coursera, this gives leaders greater visibility into current capabilities for career development, mentoring, mobility and talent decisions.
The companies also aim to help organizations measure whether employees can apply what they have learned, rather than tracking completion alone. Hands-on labs, role play, assessments and recognized credentials can be used to show proficiency, while teams can develop role-specific skills against a defined readiness rubric.
Why the integration matters for workforce planning
Coursera presents the integration against a backdrop of rapid changes in how organizations define roles and develop talent. As skills become more important to hiring, development and career mobility, leaders need visibility into employee capabilities, organizational needs and emerging gaps.
However, the company says only 55% of CHROs feel somewhat prepared to manage AI-driven workforce changes. Coursera also identifies fragmented learning systems as a challenge: data may move manually between platforms, development programs may lack relevant options, and completion reports may provide little evidence that employees can use their new skills.
By connecting content, skills data and talent processes, the certified integration is intended to help Workday customers streamline internal curation and automated data flows while reducing administrative effort. Coursera says customers are already seeing benefits from connecting learning more closely with skill priorities, although the announcement does not provide customer names or performance figures.
