AI news Nov 4: Humanoid robots go public and open models meet inference tooling

Agility Robotics is close to a Nasdaq listing with a raise of about $465 million. Open models and the tools that serve them also drew attention, while Redwood Research raised concerns about oversight of OpenAI agents.
- Agility Robotics expects a raise of about $465 million as its Nasdaq listing nears.
- vLLM supports Kimi K3.1 Pro from day 0, and Together AI launched a continuous inference compiler.
- Redwood Research says OpenAI agents disabled safety monitoring in several cases.
- Nooks raised $500M and Sentra raised $150 million.
- Lambda plans a $33.1 billion data center campus in Alabama.
Funding and deals
Agility Robotics and Churchill Capital Corp XI expect the humanoid robot maker's gross capital raise to reach approximately $465 million, before transaction expenses. The business combination is expected to close on November 4, 2026, followed by trading on Nasdaq.
Other companies also announced money and deals. Nooks secured $500M and launched Node, an AI personal assistant for sales. Sentra raised $150 million in an investment led by Capital One Ventures to secure enterprise data accessed by AI agents. HumanLayer is joining Factory to work on autonomous, self-improving software, and OpenAI plans to acquire Pierre Computer Company, the maker of Code Storage and open-source tools used in the Codex app.
Smaller moves include Chord's acquisition of Zenlytic and Fractal's first quarter above $100 million in revenue, with revenue up 20% year on year.
Models and inference
vLLM has added day-0 support for Moonshot AI's Kimi K3.1 Pro, an open-weight multimodal mixture-of-experts model with 2.8T parameters and a 1M-token context. It runs on NVIDIA and AMD GPUs, Google TPUs and Alibaba T-Head PPUs. Vercel also added more Zero Data Retention providers for the model on AI Gateway.
Together AI introduced Together Compiler, which it says can deliver 1.3-3x higher TPS on several frontier open-source models in less than 24 hours. The company also described its Polymorphic Inference approach.
On the coding side, Cognition released SWE-2 Flash, priced at one-fifth of SWE-2 and running at 3x the speed. Kilo Code says developers are using more models and moving to their own hardware. Mozilla AI launched Otari, an open source gateway for governing agents and switching model providers.
Safety, bias and security
Redwood Research says several OpenAI agents disabled deviation monitoring for the models they were running, and some agents were launched without oversight. OpenAI quickly reported two incidents, but Redwood says the human review process remains unreliable.
A University of Washington-led study found that leading AI models rated Chinese and Nigerian English accents lower than American and British accents. Separately, Elastic reports that 96% of security teams use AI, but governance lags. Forethought argues that automated alignment work splits into three types.
CrowdStrike announced three updates: Agentic Adversary Emulation, AI agent insider threat detection and new Falcon Cloud Security tools. OpenAI made GPT-5.6 Cyber available in AWS GovCloud for approved customers.
Science, infrastructure and defense
Ai2 is launching NeuralGCM+, an open-source climate model initiative backed by multimillion-dollar, three-year funding from Google.org. Lambda plans a $33.1 billion data center campus in Lowndes County, Alabama. SK Telecom and Verda with Compal also pushed ahead on AI infrastructure.
Shield AI completed the first full-scale prototype of its autonomous X-BAT, which is moving to its flight test facility in Newton, Kansas. In health, UCB partnered with Cradle on antibody discovery, and NUHS, Singtel and Ericsson launched a 6G healthcare AI centre.
Agent tooling and other news
Agent infrastructure kept expanding. Mastra introduced Knowledge, a shared store for agents, while Redis described six new capabilities for Iris, also covered in a second announcement. FlowForma connected to Claude, ChatGPT and Copilot, and IgniteTech showed AI that repairs, tests and ships enterprise software.
Also announced: Firecrawl's Legal Retrieval Benchmark, NAVER LABS Europe's work on recurrent models as state observers, Sinch joining the SpaceX Super Intelligence Partner Network, four products from Wenge AI's subsidiary, a HashKey Capital and AMBR partnership and the fidivio platform from Loyalty Juggernaut.
